We’ve just confirmed a handful of gigs:

On Monday 14th June (that’s tonight, silly), we’re playing an acoustic set at Andy Hank Dog’s amusingly named ‘Brixton Phalace’ night at The Queen’s Head in Brixton. It’s free to get in and we might play outside if it’s warm enough (looks doubtful).

On Sunday 20th June we’re supporting the legendary Babybird at The Haymakers in Cambridge. Apparently, Johnny Depp’s a fan. Our only celebrity admirer is Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, but I don’t think he’ll be playing guitar on our new album. Tickets are £10 in advance.

On Saturday 31st July, we’re supporting The Singing Adams (the fantastic new band from our old mucker Steve Adams from The Broken Family Band). Also on the bill are former Ellie Walker associates, Model Village, who are also ruddy brilliant. Tickets are £5 in advance and are available here.

We’ve got a couple of gigs coming up this week:

On Wednesday 31st March, we’re playing at The Buffalo Bar on Highbury Corner. Also on the bill are The Sunny Street, The Fire Stations and The Arc Lamps, all of whom are ace. Tickets are £5 on the door.

On Sunday 4th April, we’re supporting Last Harbour at The Portland Arms in Cambridge. Expect some Easter-themed shenanigans and a fair amount of blasphemy. Tickets are £4 in advance and are available here.

A few things:

On Thursday 4th March, we’re playing a live acoustic session on The Audio Files on BBC Cambridgeshire. If you’re in the area, you can listen live on 96.7 to 96FM from 6-7pm. Otherwise you can listen live on the BBC Cambridgeshire website, or on the BBC iPlayer for up to seven days afterwards.

On Saturday 6th March, we’re playing a free show at Octopus Ride! @ The Globe in Cambridge. We’ll be playing a special extended set with lots of new material. Support comes from Incredible Flight Of Birdman and Mr. David Greaves.

On Saturday 20th March, we’re playing a Pennyblackmusic night at The Half Moon in Herne Hill. We’re supporting punk legends The Television Personalities. Also on the bill are Of Arrow Hill and The Rebel (Ben Wallers from The Country Teasers).

Also, if you’ve not yet bought a copy of our new album, ‘If These Are The Good Times’, you can buy one from all the usual places (Amazon, HMV, iTunes, emusic etc) or you can order a copy for £5 (including postage and packaging)from the Series 8 website.

I hope this finds you in fine fettle. We’ve got some proper news for a change…

‘If These Are The Good Times’, our much delayed second album will finally see the light of day on 9th November and should be available via all the usual channels (HMV, Amazon, Play, iTunes, emusic etc). The good people at Maverick magazine have described it as ‘a magnificent record’. We’re just glad to have finally finished the bloody thing.

I’m not sure if you can really call it a tour (we’ll be driving home in the middle of the night and dragging ourselves into work the next day), but we’ve got a fair few gigs lined up between now and the end of the year:

Being an 8-piece bastard child band of two cities can have its drawbacks – our masses of screaming, adoring, verging-on-the-obsessive fans in either London or Cambridge often find it difficult to make it to gigs held in their respective ‘away’ grounds.

As such we’ve got gigs in both Cambridge AND London in early October as part of our ongoing pimp-a-thon for our new album ‘If These Are The Good Times’, both of which promise to be pretty great.

On Saturday 3rd October, we’re doing the Octopus Ride night at The Globe on Hills Road, Cambridge. We’ve done this before and it’s wicked; free entry, always good bands and a great atmosphere. We’ll be doing a longer set than usual too, giving you a bit of a Pony history lesson – old ones, current ones and brand spanking new ones.

Then on Wednesday 7th October we’re doing Goo Nite at The Buffalo Bar in Highbury (8pm, £5). It’s their weekly indie, poppy, alternative-y night with a great range of music in a cool venue where you can quite literally dance your socks off. Please note The Pony Collaboration cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage incurred to socks while attending this gig. Although we will feel sorry for you. Probably.

We’ve got a couple a couple of gigs coming up this month:

On Saturday 5th September, we’re playing at Rough Trade Shops’ RoTa Afternoons @ Notting Hill Arts Club. Also on the bill are our good pals Pacific Ocean Fire and The Puncture Repair Kit, who both happen to be excellent. It’s free to get in and it all kicks off at about 4pm.

On Friday 18th September, we’re playing at Danny George Wilson’s ‘Still Believe’ club at Brixton Windmill. Also on the bill are Danny & The Champions of the World, She Keeps Bees, This Frontier Needs Heroes and Roland K Smith. This will be good also.

In other news, our second album, ‘If These Are The Good Times’, is due to be released on Series 8 records on 9th November but we’ll be selling copies at gigs from Saturday. Get ‘em while they’re hot!

We almost forgot to tell you about an exciting gig we’re playing tomorrow night (Thursday 23rd July).

We’re playing at Flea Circus @ The Candid Arts Centre in Angel. This is a night of music and stand up comedy headlined by the mighty Pappy’s Fun Club (former Channel 4 and if.comedy award nominees).

It’s only £3 to get in and all drinks are £2.

On Friday 12th June, we’re opening for The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart at The Soul Tree in Cambridge. We’re onstage at 7:30pm, so get yourself down there nice and early. Tickets are £7.50 in advance and are available here:

Or if your feeling more adventurous, on Saturday 13th June, you can catch James and Michael from The Pony Collaboration playing in the recently reformed punk-pop supergroup, Foxy Ramone, who will be appearing at the R*E*P*E*A*T Fanzine ‘Anti-Christmas Party’ (it’s a long story) at Legend’s Bar @ Cambridge City Football Club. Also on the bill are The Shills, Johnny Panic, AC Mars, Jazz and Feedback. Tickets are £5 on the door and all profits will go to Love Music Hate Racism (although after you’ve heard Foxy Ramone racism might seem preferable).

We’re busy working away on our second album and it’s getting exciting, we’ve now done most of the mixing and are just waiting to go and see the bearded mastering wizard. It’ll be ready soon, we promise.
